In the context of writing about liking yourself in the year 2010. I thought it might be beneficial to fill you in about some myths I heard from may young ladies in regards to eating and the fear of gaining weight.
Many believe the following myths:
1. Exercising excessively or throwing up will make you thin
2. Drinking a lot of water will help you maintain your weight
3. Only eating a little at a time is the key to a better looking body
The Truth is:
1. Drinking a lot of water just causes access water weight, so if you were to weigh yourself after doing this, you would actually weigh more. Not eating enough calories to burn when exercising can actually cause weight gain, not weight loss.
2. Engaging in the behaviors above can lead to cardiovascular problems (slow pulse, low blood pressure etc.), Effects on the brain and central nervous system (lack of REM sleep etc.), Dental and mouth problems (tooth loss, erosion of enamel),Dermatologic problems (dry skin, scars etc., gastrointestinal problems (abdominal pain, gastritis etc.), and many more things.
